The History of the Hamlet Name:
The name of Jiushe came from Fanshe given by the ancient residents of the area. It was at first inhabited by kakarbaroche of Honanya. And Han Chinese were used to calling it Fanshe which means the residence of Tufan. During the period of Yongzheng and Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, people with a surname of Yang and Lin began to immigrate into and open up the land, which drove the Hoanya people to Nan Tou Pu Li and made the place a Han Chinese residence. The name of Jiushe was first recorded in the documents of the period of Daoguang of Qing Dynasty (1821-1850), where it was called Jiushe Manor as one of the 40 manors affiliated to Mao Luo of Zhang Hua County, and was the ninth security area affiliated to Shekou Security Office (including nine security areas in all) before it was occupied by Japan. During that period, the Japanese Supreme Office in Taiwan regulated the administration distribution for several times: in the first year of Xuantong Period (Minzhi 42, 1909), the hamlet is one of the six manors in Fenyuan District of the Branch Office of Tai Zhong Office in Zhanghua (the other five are Fenyuan, Shekou, Xianzhuang, Xiaqielao, and Tong'an Liao); in the ninth year of Minguo (the 9 th year of Dazheng, 1920), the hamlet was distributed as one of the six Dazi districts affiliated to Fenyuan Manor of Zhanghua District of Tai Zhong Zhou; and since the end of the 22nd year of Minguo (the 8 th year of Zhaohe, 1933), the district has been slightly regulated. After regaining its ruling power over the district from Japan , the name of Jiushe that was used in the period of Japanese ruling remained, till today.
