Fengkeng Hamlet

Geographical Position:

Fengkeng Hamlet, with an area of 2.20 square kilometers, locates on the middle-west part of the village, 1.2 kilometers east of the administration office in Shekou. On the east of Fengkeng Hamlet, it is adjacent with Zhulin Hamlet, on the south with Fenyuan Hamlet and Jinfeng Hamlet, on the west with Hua Tan Village of Zhang Hua County, on the north with Dapu Hamlet and Jiushe Hamlet. The hamlet is on the valley of Ba Gua Tai , with an altitude of between 160 meters to 180 meters. The Songzi Mountain that is on the southwest claims an altitude of 253.19 meters, making itself the highest of the hills in the village. The water in the spray canals in Fengkeng Hamlet comes from the rain that flows eastwards of Songzi Mountain and the water goes through the whole hamlet and flows into the Mao Luo Stream via the southeast part of Dapu Hamlet that is to the northeast of Fengkeng Hamlet. The hamlet is almost all composed of highlands, where maples are mass-planted; the northeast, southeast and northwest parts of the west of the hamlet are the main orchards areas.

History of the Hamlet Name:

The hamlet is called Fengkeng because of its highland terrain and the maples planted all over it in the past. And Fen means maples while keng means valleys in Chinese.

The main roads of the hamlet that extends outwards are: the 139 th road that is close to Hua Tan Village on the west, extends to Zhang Hua City on the north and to Da Zhang Road on the south which is connected with Jinfeng Hamlet, Tong'an Hamlet, Zhonglun Hamlet, and Dazhu Hamlet; other roads are mainly those go from west to east along the valley and from the north to the south they are Jin Gua Liao Nong Road that connects the 139 th road with Lin Cuo Keng in Jiushe Hamlet, Zhu Kan Road that Jiu Ben Kan with Zhu Xin Keng in Jiushe Hamlet, Yi Xin Road that connects Ben Kan with Dapu in Dapu Hamlet, Ren Ai Road that connects Xin Ben Kan with Shekou Hamlet through the whole Fengkeng Hamlet, Xin Ben Kan agricultura Road and the 60 th road that connects Xin Ben Kan with the Tai 14 th Zhang Nan Road along the spray canals past Dapu Hamlet, and Nan Fang Liao agricultura Road that is adjacent with Fenyuan Hamlet by which one could get to Shekou Hamlet by going to Jinfeng Hamlet and Fenyuan Hamlet from Nan Feng Liao and returning to Fenyuan Hamlet.
