Tong'an Hamlet

Geographical Position:

Tong'an Hamlet, with an area of 2.51 square kilometers, locates in the middle-west of the village, about 2.3 kilometers away from the administration office in Shekou. It is adjacent with Xianzhuang Hamlet on the east, Zhonglun Hamlet on the south, Jinfen Hamlet on the north and northeast, and Da Cun Village and Yuanlin Town on the west. The hamlet is on the plains of Ba Gua Tai, with an altitude of around 230 meters. In the hamlet, there are a lot of pits and vales, which become spray canals on raining days when water flows from west to east into Mao Luo Stream. Large pits and vales include Xin Xin Keng which is close to Jinfen Hamlet, Shan Keng (Shi Shui Keng) which is in the middle part and Fu Xing Keng (Hou Keng) in Nan Jing.

History of the name:

The hamlet is called Tong'an because of the early explorers who came from Tong'an County of Quan Zhou Fu of Fu Jian Province and settled down in the area. They named the place after their hometown to commemorate their old homes. And the early Tong'an Liao refers to Tong'an Hamlet, Zhonglun Hamlet and Dazhu Hamlet of today.

Traffic arteries:

The main road of the village that extends outwards is: Da Zhang Road that goes from south to north on the west and extends to places such as Yuanlin, Da Cun and Hua Tan; other roads include Jin An Road that goes from the west to east on the northwest and extends to Zhang Nan Road via Jinfen Hamlet, Zhong Shan Road and Shi Shui Keng Nong Road that also goes from the west to east and though the middle of the hamlet and both of them are connected with Zhang Nan Road, and Shan An Road on the southeast which is the extending road of Hou Keng and is connected with Zhang Nan Road.
